As the Washington Commanders gear up for the 2024-25 season, new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury faces a daunting task. With major changes within the organization, including a sale, new coaching staff, and legal issues, expectations are low for the team.

The Commanders are pinning their hopes on rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels to lead the offense, with Dan Quinn as the new head coach and Joe Whit Jr. in charge of the defense. However, all eyes will be on Kingsbury, who will be implementing his high-powered offensive scheme in Washington.

Kingsbury’s air raid offense, known for its quick passes and fast tempo, has come under scrutiny during his tenure with the Arizona Cardinals. Despite criticism, the system helped rookie QB Kyler Murray succeed, although it did hinder the running game.

Now, the Commanders may have a running back trio that could change the narrative for Kingsbury. The team’s current running back, who tallied 5 touchdowns last season, is described as a physical, north-south runner who isn’t afraid of contact.

Robinson Jr., as he’s known, is expected to excel in Kingsbury’s offense thanks to his ability to sell play actions, block effectively, and catch passes out of the backfield. His vision and timing make him a perfect fit for the scheme.

Joining Robinson Jr. in the backfield is Ekeler, a versatile back who can provide depth and support. Despite playing for a pass-heavy Chargers team last season, Ekeler still managed to rush for 629 yards, showing his ability to carry the load when needed.

This potential running back trio has the Commanders’ coaching staff excited for the offensive possibilities. With a mix of power, agility, and pass-catching ability, this group could be a game-changer for Washington.

As the season approaches, all eyes will be on Kingsbury and his new running back trio to see if they can live up to the hype and help the Commanders exceed expectations in the coming season.
