In the world of casino and gaming news, FanDuel has made a bold move by launching a new initiative called “Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting.” This initiative is aimed at helping families engage in discussions about gambling, with a focus on the risks involved and the importance of having informed conversations.
The program, which was introduced during Responsible Gaming Education Month, features former NBA player Randy Livingston and his wife, sports agent Anita Smith. They are the newest members of FanDuel’s Responsible Gaming Ambassador Program. Their involvement brings a personal touch to the initiative, as they share their own experiences and insights.
One of the key components of Trusted Voices is a video series where Livingston opens up about his personal struggle with problem gambling. This series sheds light on the risks of underage gambling and underlines the critical need for proactive discussions within families. The content, developed in collaboration with Epic Global Solutions, stresses the role of adults in modeling responsible behavior and warns against proxy betting, where adults place bets on behalf of minors.
Livingston and Smith’s participation in the program aims to equip parents, guardians, and coaches with the tools to recognize warning signs of gambling addiction and guide young people in understanding the risks associated with gambling. Their advocacy is a testament to their desire to help others navigate the complexities of gambling responsibly.
In addition to launching Trusted Voices, FanDuel is also expanding its partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health to extend mental health services to individuals who self-exclude from its platform. This shows FanDuel’s commitment to supporting the well-being of its users beyond just the realm of gambling.
Alison Kutler, Vice President of Responsible Gaming and Community Impact at FanDuel, expressed her enthusiasm for the program, stating: “Randy and Anita have an incredible story and a desire to help others. We are excited to expand our advocacy program to raise awareness of the importance of having early and informed family conversations about gambling and the associated risks.” The program represents a step forward in promoting responsible gambling practices and supporting individuals who may be struggling with addiction.
